^^^^^^^^^^^^^ As above. Much srsnss here today :3
BUT YES.
I actually think it's just crap the way schools make you think that the only way to be successful is to, like, get A levels/a college course/ whatever, then go to uni and get a job... OLUKSHDLFKJHDXFLKJ

we had an assembly the other day about how you can either be on the "successful" side of the line, or the "average... or worse" side of the line. ¬¬ Not helpful-NOT HELPFUL AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially for people like me who hate doing school work, but also feel like a complete and utter failure when I don't. Really just would like to be able to open a shop somewhere or something and live there without feeling like I'd failed life, and was not as good as other people. Worst feeling in the world, and I think it is VERY BAD that it is perpetuated by schools, which are meant to be there to provide a safe environment in which learning is done, not a place for egotistical teachers to preach about their little opinion on what is the correct way to live life.
I'm not really that bothered about the whole, "when am I going to need algebra lolol and when am I going to need to know what a subordinate clause is, it's so not useful in real life"... because I think that having an extended academic education is helpful; it enables you to understand concepts at a higher level, have more interesting conversations with people on a wider range of issues and informs your opinion and can help you develop new ones-plus education at this level (post 16) is (at the moment ><) voluntary, so I don't really get why people complain about that sort of thing at this point anyway.
The only thing I REALLY object to is the trend of constant competition to make yourself the best in every way (y'know, most highly qualified, "well-rounded individual" blah), you've ALWAYS GOT TO BE BETTER, push yourself CONSTANTLY to be the very very best, and this whole crap about "selling yourself" on your CV. And that if you don't go on to achieve highly at A Levels, and go to uni, if say, you just get a small job and focus your energies on hobbies instead, actually that DOESN'T count as a legitimate lifestyle choice or proper happiness, because you have to be -successful-, and studious and productive.
Hope I didn't come across like a massive anarchist here XD just makes me SO ANGRY XD
